It's That Time Again!!

October 21st 2007 I married my best friend.
Today is our Two Year Wedding Anniversary!

Unfortunately, recently, many close to me have had or are currently going through difficult issues in their marriages. I want to take this time to share some words of wisdom and encouragement to those of you who may be going through the same. I also want to share something with those of you who aren't yet married.

First to those who are not yet married:

WAIT on God! Get close to Him! Get a relationship with Him where you rely on Him for EVERYTHING! Learn to pray and trust in His word and His divine guidance and protection! You are going to need it as a wife! You want a God fearing man!!! A man who knows he has to answer to a higher power! If he doesn't know this, he is liable to do whatever! I am not saying a God fearing man will not fall short, he is still human. What I am saying is, even when he messes up, his love for God will compel him to get right! This is why you MUST know how to pray!!! You must pray to keep peace in your home. WAIT on God! Let Him send you the man He has specifically for you! DO NOT go looking for your husband...he will find you!!!''A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.''

To those that are married and are going through some difficulties and are determined to save their marriage:

WAIT on God! TRUST God! PRAY! It works!!! You may be fine one morning and the next may seem like your world is over. PRAY!!! It works! NOBODY gets away with anything!! So watch what you do and don't concern yourself with what your spouse is doing. Learn the difference between when you are in your emotions and when you are rational. If you are in your emotions, STOP and PRAY! Ask God to calm you down, guide, and direct you. Trust God to fix the situation. What you do in the meantime is PRAY and get as close to God as you can!!!! Put Him first and watch Him work in your life!!!

Is my marriage perfect? NO!!

However, we have the SUPER GLUE that holds it together...Jesus!!!!!!

Love you all!

Stay encouraged!!!

The beginning of October I went to MEXICO!!!!!

To prepare for my trip to Mexico, I did something drastic.....

I went from this:

(Sorry for the dirty mirror)

To this:

This is how long it now is when stretched:

9/25/09 (15 months and 12 days post) I had 4-5 inches cut off of my hair!!!!! I guess you can say I big chopped! I only have about an inch of relaxed hair left in the back (less than an inch in a few places), and a few inches on the top . I wanted my hair even all around which is why more relaxed hair is left on the top layers. The last time I chopped all the relaxed hair off I was left with an uneven mess! This time around I can still pull my hair back in a bun while my hair grows out. I will do mini chops along the way until all of the relaxed hair is gone!

Why did I chop before time? I haven't been swimming in over 4 years! I was going to Mexico and I wanted to swim! I didn't want to worry about dealing with the two textures. It was soooo much easier to deal with my hair with all that relaxed hair gone!!!!

This is how I wear my hair EVERYDAY!

I know boring, but this is how I keep my mind off of my hair and as a result I mess with it less and I am able to retain all of my growth!

So now is the grow out phase!!!!!

(I took the Regulation section of the CPA Exam the day before my trip to Mexico. I am currently studying for the Business section. I have that test as well as the Auditing test this month. PLEASE pray for me!)

May and September

Not the best comparison pics, I'll do better next time!

10 months post 5/2/09

15 months post 9/16/09

I am soooo busy as of late! I am attending review classes to sit for the CPA Exam. STUDYING is my life right now. I know it will pay off in the end. Please pray for me!!!

So today I washed my hair. I prepoo'd on dry hair with Hairveda's Strinillah Deep Conditioner (it didn't work well as a DC on my hair) and mixed in Vatika Frosting. My hair felt so soft!!!! I then cowashed with Moist Conditon 24/7 and then did a DC with AO White Camellia. Here is a pic of my hair with the prepoo in. I am 15 months post, yay! I was pleased with the amount of growth. Almost felt like doing a mini chop. However, I decided to continue to grow my hair to waistlength (personal goal) and then start doing mini chops if my big chop date is still ahead.

Sorry, not a good pic. I couldn't find the digi camera.

My Straightening Regimen

Okay so I have been straightening a lot lately. I did it once for a bachelorrete party, and two bridal showers. Did it again for a wedding and will do it one more time for my graduation and another wedding the next day.

So this is my regimen for when I straighten.

NOTE: Since I am transitioning and over 10 months in, I DO NOT detangle with my Jilbere shower comb or Denman brush. I lose TOO much hair when I detangle that way.

Evening before I straighten:

Section hair in four sections

Scalp Massage with oil, detangle with hands ONLY! if needed.

Prepoo with oil and/or conditioner for about atleast 3o minutes with cap. Detangle with my hands ONLY! if needed.

Shampoo-I apply shampoo using a color applicator bottle. I target my scalp only, and let the suds cleanse the length of my hair. I do this once per section. To minimize tangles I hold the length of my hair with one hand and use the other hand to massage my scalp.

Condition Rinse-I use a light conditioner, something you would cowash with, to do this. I apply to both my scalp and hair. I massage it in like it is a shampoo. I do this because I only shampoo once. This step will finish cleansing while at the same time soften up my hair. To minimize tangles I do the same thing that I do when I shampoo.

Protein-I do this to add strength to my hair. It can be a light or heavy protein. It depends on how my hair is feeling. I DO NOT use heat or steam it in! Everytime in the past I used heat or sat under the steamer (that was DUMB) with protein, I ended up with matted hair. I have learned my lesson.

Deep Condition-I deep condition with heat or sit under my steamer. I have a microwave heat cap, a Pibbs Dryer, and a steamer. I use whatever I feel like using at the time.

After my final rinse of cold water, I apply Chi Silk Infusion to each section

I then set my hair in four plaits to air dry overnight

Next morning:

I Blow dry each section of hair on low setting and warm heat to completely dry and straighten out. If I run into any tangles I use my fingers ONLY to detangle. When blow drying, I start at my scalp and go to where my new growth ends. I then use my fingers to loosen up any resistance. Then I blow dry the length of my hair.

I then flat iron or use my Maxiglide on each section.

When complete I crosswrap my hair.

Not such a good pic, but I do this so that my edges lay down in the direction I am going to wear it. I don't like how the side of my hair that is combed in the wrong direction, comes out in a regular wrap.

If I get it set in pin-curls, I comb my hair to the back and then do four pin-curls at the nape of my hair. This is how it comes out.

The following are different variations of what I do if I don't want to wear it out.

I hope this helps someone!

Has anyone tried this? The name of the company is called VitaminShampoo and yes they do make conditioners as well, LOL. I went into Walgreens a few minutes ago and this caught my eye. The ingredients don't look too bad and best of all they all smell GREAT! They come in a variety of flavors (for lack of a better word). They all have a nice fruity scent. I wonder how well it will work on my hair and how long the smell will last. It's about to be Summer Summer Summer Time and I wouldn't mind my hair smelling like juices and berries. :-) When I get some cash I will purchase and give my review!

Hairzing and eyebrows!

I just recently purchased a hairzing from and an eyebrow kit from I am pleased with both of these purchases!

I have very weird eyebrows. Everytime I get them done it is a hit and miss. So like with my hair, I decided to be proactive about my approach with them. This kit is a life saver for me. I have never been so pleased with my eyebrows in my life. What is even better is that I did them myself, if I can do it once I can do it again, and they do not need to be filled in at all (which is big for me because I was always left with barely there brows after getting them done by "professionals"). If you decide to try them out, purchase the eyebrow book as well. It is going in my beauty reference library!

If you think they look different, you are right. I accidently picked up the wrong stencil to do my other eyebrow :-/ On the upside, my eyebrows have NEVER looked this full after getting them done!

Hairzing is the bomb! I got up one day with rough crazy looking hair. The new growth is so thick I have to rewet before I can do anything these days. So I rewet with my spray bottle applied some gel to the front, smoothed with my hands and attached my hairzing to pull the front sides back. The rest of my hair was left hanging. It held really well and looked great. Now the problem was what was I going to do with the hair that was left hanging. I decided to spritz that hair with the water, appled some Keracare mousse and added big twist to add some uniform texture. After that I put a scarf on the front to make sure it laid down nicely. So after I got dressed I saw that my twists were still wet and dripping. So this is what I did next. I took out my blowdrier with my diffuser attachment and commenced to diffusing! My hair dried in less than 10 minutes and when I took out the twist I had a nice twist out. This was the quickest prettiest style I have ever done!

Before twist were taken down

After twist were taken out

Next attempt, same process just applied the hairzing lower on my head. Left twist in this time, did not use Keracare mousse. I used Hairveda's Whipped Shea Aloe Mousse on freshly washed hair.

I am no good with second day hair so when it comes to twist and twist-outs. This is how I wore it the next day.

Neglecting My Hair and Blog

I am currently in my last semester at school. This accounting major is demanding! I have not been pampering myself or my hair the way I would love to. I sat under my steamer for the first time in months this past Monday. Sad! This is also the reason why I have been neglecting my blog.

I am still transitioning, over 8 months now. You can find the counter at the bottom of the page. The process has been okay this time around. My opinion, it is better to start transitioning in the spring so that you are deep in it in the winter. Especially if you are lazy and don't have time to deal with the two textures. All winter I have been wearing a hat. I get up, go to class, and come back home (I know sad.) Right now my hair is conrowed in a circle around my head with a section in the front out. I flat ironed and curled that section, put on a hat and swooped the hair across the front, pinning it to the side.

I so want to chop my hair, but May is a big month. I am in two weddings and I am suppose to be graduating. I look terrible with short hair, so I will keep the length and just flat iron, pincurl, and pin up sections for a nice elegant look.

My hair is currently still below bra strap. I am suppose to do an update of my transitioning hair soon, and then in May I will update again what I am going to do to my hair and how it turned out.

Until then,

Take Care!

I just heard on the news that Governor Paterson makes $179k a year and lives rent-free in Governor's Mansion. He JUST took a 10% pay cut because someone made a claim that he was not making any sacrifices in this economy and asked him if he would consider a pay decrease. This is after he proposed the state budget, in which excerpts follow.

This is the same man cutting the stuff we need. In his 2009-10 New York State budget proposal to try to close a "$15.4 billion budget gap," he submitted a few months ago, he wants to cut "$3.5 billion in health care savings, including reductions in payments to hospitals and nursing homes," "layoffs for 521 state workers," and "a 3.3%, or $698 million, reduction in school aid" to name a few. Paterson wants to tax "movie tickets, taxi rides, soda,...and massages. It also extends sales taxes to cable and satellite TV services and removes the tax exemption for clothes costing less than $110." Ron Deutsch, executive director of New Yorkers for Fiscal Fairness, an advocacy group, said, "The governor is nickel-and-diming working class families." People are losing their jobs left and right!

Last month, February, a record number of people lost their jobs. These people have to rely on a system of unemployment, which pays far less than some of their incomes, and keeps getting cut off every couple of weeks, to later get "extended" for a few more weeks. The cost of living has not declined; it continues to increase, especially in New York!

I think ALL government officials should take a pay cut! The "little man" has to, and still does the same job, sometimes more for less pay! And they call the Wall Street executives greedy!

(Please excuse any typos. I am mad, and do not feel like being meticulous right now.)
